Full Mouth Dental Implants - Powdersville, SC.

We Love Restoring Smiles and Lives

A Permanent Tooth Replacement Solution

If you have missing teeth, you may be suffering from low self-esteem and be embarrassed about your appearance, however, tooth loss can also lead to serious oral health issues. Failure to replace missing teeth is the leading cause of jaw bone loss. The empty sockets can cause teeth to shift, resulting in major issues with your bite. This can have a domino effect and cause unnatural tooth erosion, bacteria build-up, additional tooth loss, sensitivity, and pain related to temporomandibular joint dysfunction. At Magnolia Falls Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center, the term one size-fits all isn’t in our vocabulary. We determine whether full mouth dental implants in Powdersville, SC are the right solution for you based on several factors. These include the number and location of your missing teeth, whether any tooth extraction is required, the condition of your jawbone, and your overall health. Our oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Brett M. Shigley will carefully assess your individual situation and recommend a personalized treatment plan that provides the best possible results.

The Advantages of Dental Implants for Multiple Missing Teeth

Traditional tooth replacement solutions only restore the part of your tooth visible above the gum line. While these options can help you resume a more varied diet and smile confidently, the underlying root structure is still missing. As such, other tooth replacement options simply don’t offer as many benefits as full mouth dental implants. Dentures don’t prevent bone loss and it isn’t uncommon for them to slip, click, and fall out, which can lead to problems speaking and potentially embarrassing situations at every meal. In addition, traditional dentures require messy adhesives and need to be removed at night and cleaned. Full-mouth dental implants are inserted into your jawbone with a titanium post that serves as an artificial tooth root. Dental implants stimulate bone growth, prevent changes to your facial structure, and reduce the risk of decay and gum disease caused by bacteria accumulating on teeth exposed by empty spaces.

Designed specifically for patients with bone loss, zygomatic implants are tilted and much longer than traditional dental implants so they can be securely placed in the cheekbone (zygoma).

Advanced technologies include

Three Steps to a Revitalized Smile

At Magnolia Falls Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center, you can receive a temporary full arch of new teeth in one day so you don’t have to struggle another moment with an incomplete smile. Our dental implant process is carried out in three streamlined stages leveraging advanced technology from beginning to end.

At your first visit, Dr. Shigley will examine your mouth and take 3D images using CBCT scanning technology to assess the health of your teeth, gums, and bone structure. He’ll discuss these findings with you and ask about your health, functional, and aesthetic goals. Using this information, Dr. Shigley will develop a completely customized treatment plan and design for your new set of teeth. Next, he’ll use BlueSkyBio guided implant software and an in-house lab to fabricate a custom surgical guide that eliminates guesswork and enables accurate placement the day of your surgery. You’ll schedule a date for your dental implant placement before leaving our office.

On the day of your implant placement, we offer several anesthesia options for your ultimate comfort. Using 3D printed guides created during your first consultation, Dr. Shigley places dental implants in the most optimal areas of your jaw with dense bone. If necessary, he may be able to extract remaining teeth and perform bone grafting to rebuild your jawbone the same day as your procedure. If your upper jawbone has decayed significantly, he may recommend zygomatic dental implants. He offers plasma-rich growth factors, bone morphogenetic protein, and plasma-rich fibrin to speed the healing process after extraction. This technology also helps ossify bone around your implants. Digital impressions are taken to help our dental lab design your final restoration.

It typically takes three to six months for your implant sites to heal after surgery. During this period, dental implants fuse with your jawbone in a process called osseointegration. Once they fuse, dental implants function like natural tooth roots, providing a secure permanent support for your new fixed teeth. During the final step of the process, Dr. Shigley will fit you with your custom-made full arch bridge of teeth. We prefer state-of-the-art zirconia because it’s resistant to chips and fractures and available in custom shades and colors that replicate the natural appearance of healthy teeth and gums.
